I will be selling my old boat and will need to transport it. I Will use my jeep for towing and I will do it instead of hiring a tow third-party. I just ordered https://www.jeepsareus.com/sku/82212180ad.html a tow receiver but would I also need to change my back bumper since the boat is too heavy? Would love to have feedback from 4x4 owners.

Nothing to do with weight, but that hitch requires a bumper cutout. My wife’s grand Cherokee came with the factory hitch and it sits higher than an aftermarket since the bumper is cut out for it.

Before you spend that kind of money on what you describe as a one-use trip, check with your local U-Haul store. They have hitches that will attach to your bumper that can be removed and returned. m

Hiya!

Fret question.. what is the boat you are pulling? Getting an idea of what the thing weighs will be a part of the decision on what route to go.
