Looking to maybe go camp here and fish for a few days. Anyone ever been out there? I've seen some really big Muskies and some really nice Tigers come out of there.

Thanks!

Would be extremely unlikely to have any tiger’s in the lake, it’s been 25+ years since the state stocked tigers...it’s stocked with true muskies .. I’ve been there many times, but haven’t been there in so long nothing would be relevant...close to the highest population area in the state so you’ll certainly have plenty of company, good luck

Would you suggest either Clear Lake or Spirit Lake over Big Creek as far as pressure goes? I am in Minneapolis and am just looking to get out on the water, so I don't mind fishing secondary structure if there are a lot of anglers, but don't want to be combat fishing either lol.

Thanks for your help!

I suggest you give Pleasent Creek recreation area. There is a small reservoir there that hold some nice ones. They have campsites. Unless it has changed there is no season on the body of water

Clear lake has a good population, so does Brushy Creek... Big creek is probably the last lake in Iowa I’d drive to from Minn., but does kick out an occasional big fish. Spirit and Okiboji’s are nice lakes, but are closed to muskie fishing currently until May (check regulations), all other stocked lakes have no season, not sure if your looking for a trip soon?

Big Creek would be the last lake I would visit in the state, and I only live 35 minutes away from it. Good luck though if you try!

Do any of you IA anglers fish for any other species in Big Creek? I would like to do some wiper fishing so I can say I’ve caught one. Any insights on them in Big Creek you’d be willing to share? Also, I’ve seen flatheads caught out of Saylorville, is their a fishable population in Big Creek as well?

Not hard to figure out where there are fish stocked, go to IA DNR website ...since Wipers do well everywhere the state puts them I assume you’d have a a good chance at Big Creek, 20+ years ago when I fished it they weren’t there, if you want flatheads fish our river’s, way easier to target in rivers

Looking to do a 2-3 day trip just to work some baits and see what happens. MN opener is so far off and the itch to fish some muskies is getting too hard not to scratch. I appreciate all the info!
