Random quote: I understand Hopeful's change of addiction from Golf to Muskie fishing. Muskie angling doesn't require as much pointless exercise.

Has anyone tried using plastic exterior trim boards to make lure blanks?
It comes in typical lumber sizes, a 1x6 is actually 3/4 x5 1/2.
Assuming it would need thru wire since screws would not hold well.
Does paint hold up on it?

TRhanks.

Using PVC decking and trim boards is quite doable and some prefer it to wood. I personally have not used it.

if you google PVC crankbaits you will find a plethora of info on it as it is quite popular.

I've not tried it, but I like the idea. I think if you sanded all surfaces with 220 or 300 grit paint would hold well.

I have some baits made of Azek and they hold up better than balsa wood. They are all coated with epoxy and have held up well. I believe smoker tackle SS Shad baits are now made of azek.
