Currently have a 9.9 Merc kicker on a Merc tilt/trim that is failing. Does anyone have recommendations for anything other then Panther units?

What's the problem with it? It should be repairable.

it drifts down, rebuilt cylinder already, but dealer says cost to evaluate and repair will exceed cost of a new panther unit. Any suggestions on what to try for continual drifting?

Make sure tip of manual release valve isn't broken off.
