I'm still relatively new to muskie fishing, and don't have a big budget. I'm trying to figure out a one rod/reel setup that can do just about everything. Right now I've been looking at the chaos tackle swat for my rod. I'm a bit stumped on the reel though. I was looking at the Revo Toro S since thats on sale from the musky shop. But not sure how that would handle 8-10oz baits. I was also looking at the Okuma Cold Water 350. I don't plan on trolling so I don't mind destroying the line counter casting. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'd like to keep the combo under $400.

Sweet thank you! I couldn't find anything online as to how big of lures people throw with it. Do you prefer the power handle or paddle handle? I've never really understood the difference

I prefer a double handle. I would go with the 60 size over the 50. Anything under $200 for the Toro S is a great price.
The power handle normally will give you more power on hard pulling baits, and I wouldn't argue that, but I seem to remember the swing is about the same on the 2 handles. I only prefer a power if I used it for bigger bucktails.

Im not saying its impossible but, I wouldn't recommend casting with a linecounter reel, those pretty much strictly made for trolling purposes

Right, which I was ok with. But I think I'm going to go with the deal on the toro S. pair that with a 9'6" chaos tackle swat.

That should be a very solid setup.

I have two Toro S, one with double paddle, one with the power handle. I have some arthritis in my hands and when that is an issue the power handle is nice but the double paddle is good most of the time. I think you will like the reel, solid, versatile. The guy I take my reels to for service does that as a full time job and he said he thought they were a really solid value.

You can't cast an Okuma coldwater. I love Okumas and own 16 of their reels, this is not a rip on the reel. Get a casting reel (the Revo S is perfect).

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the input, it was super helpful. Purchased the swat and Revo S. I'm excited to try them out!
