How's the weeds in your area? With the cool spring they seem a bit stunted compared to this time last year. Light is king but cooler temps must have an impact. Or am I off my rocker?

I’ve been rotating between about 8-10 Vilas and Forest County lakes fishing most every day. Weeds were late coming everywhere but to a widely varying degree. Now it’s pretty thick as thieves everywhere. First three fish of the year were off rocks and wood before the weeds arrived. High skies, heat and a lack of wind have the bite pretty tough last days.

Just got off of Eagle a couple of weeks ago. Almost no weed beds on the West end of the lake. Very disappointing.

In some of the metro lakes I'm seeing slime like gunk on some weeds,,similar to what you see latter in the fall

here in NYS at Chautauqua and Coneses they had a slow start, but are in full presently. May early June cold - rainy - cloudy. Last couple weeks with these 80 to 90 got things moving.

In Oneida County, shallow dark chain, weed growth was about 2-3 weeks behind but pretty much all up now. Have not seen some cabbage beds where I normally do but we do have some rusty crayfish and that may be the cause of the missing cabbage.
The most notable delay in aquatic vegetation is the wild rice bed at the creek mouth on of the lakes. It is way behind where it was at this time last year.
