For those of your coming north on Hwy51/ I-39 this summer, a ten mile stretch of the south bound lanes south of Hwy 8 will be under construction for a big chunk of summer. They will shift south bound into one lane of the north bound lanes. This is a major rebuild of a terrible section of road. In the long term, will make things much better but plan on some delays at busy times.

5 mile stretch north of Stevens Point reduced to 1 lane in each direction due to joint repair and resurfacing. Tis the orange barrel season.

From the article I read, they should. It is not just a resurfacing but actually upgrading the road bed itself, then putting down over 6 inches of asphalt. That ten mile stretch is going to take most of the summer to do. Don't know why the road bed is so bad there but it is really a mess. Only place on 51 where they have to put up signs warning about how rough the road is for the next ten miles.

It's truck damage, so when they last resurfaced/constructed they must not have made it heavy duty enough for all the logging trucks. Go cheap and thats what happens
