Posts: 103 Location: ITALY | Hello everyone is an Italian "guy" of 40 years old fisherman of pike. I decided to join the forum after years I read it ... sorry for my english but to write me help with google translate. I frequent the great lakes of northern Italy in search of the big pike. My current record is 51 "in addition to several fish over 45" but my dream remains the musky.

Posts: 612 | They must have giant pike in Italy. After chasing bigger pike for almost 50 years I've only seen a handful between (42 to 45)". Sounds to me like your catching musky sized pike, congratulations? Another reason to go to Italy

Posts: 103 Location: ITALY | In Italy we have two different types of pike: the northern pike, which you also have, and the Italian pike. Most of the fish we catch today are notherns like the one in my picture.... lately the Italian pike has been recognized as a species and not as a variety of the pike genus

Posts: 103 Location: ITALY | The pike fishing in Italy has increased about 15 years ago thanks to the nothern pike because it grew much faster and is on average more aggressive. We then started importing from the US baits, techniques and equipment dedicated to musky and the early days was fun now it is a very hard fishing Edited by Cicciospin 3/6/2019 8:59 AM

Posts: 20180 Location: oswego, il | There was a picture of a pike caught in Italy on this site about 10 or so years ago that was way over 40lbs. Enormous fish. You know somebody is going to start making a bait called a pasta shad!
