With northern IL and WI temps dropping so fast what's the chance that southern WI lakes will still be open and fishable next weekend? Temps were 44 at the lake I fished last week.

Hiya,

I’ll bet you’ll be fine.. might have some skim ice around the edge, but you’ll be able to fish..

No Problem--- I am north of there and I think we are probably 2 weeks away even if it stays cold-- But looks like a few days of even above freezing at night on the way so you will have no problem,,,

Well 15 degree temps and no wind, made for a 5 hour round trip to see some geese parked out on the ice.... Fished the chain for a bit, unproductive. Ah well!

Going ice fishing in Oneida County WI tomorrow. Went out with the spud today, 3 inches of good, hard ice.

I never understood why people from Wisconsin bust lake ice with a potato.

I know it shouldn't but it still surprises me that Monona is wide open. Just got in off the lake where I live in Oneida County and had between 3 and 4 inches of hard ice. Only open area was where the channel flows under the bridge. Supposed to get down into single digits tonight, should be making more ice.

Monona was 44 degrees this weekend and Waubesa was in the high 30's, both should be fine this weekend.

Does anyone know if Wingra boat ramp is open to launch? If it has ice, is it out very far and how thick? Thinking of hitting it on Saturday.

Yes, fox chain was wide open, Catherine &Channel Lake where I drove
past. Just the channels are locked up. Kurt's @ muskytales on
173 is where I would launch. 10 bucks or season pass.

7 degrees this morning by me were done boats in storage. Maybe fish 4 perch once the ice thickens enough. Very cold November - late October.
