Posts: 29 | I have a 15+ year old Calcutta 400 B that needs work on the clutch mechanisms. Sent it to a Shimano, and they returned it saying they couldn’t repair due to lack of parts. Any suggestions on where I can send it who’d have the proper parts? I love the reel but it needs work. Thanks

Location: Contrarian Island | try calling Daves Reel service in IL to see if he has the parts.. I send most of my reels to him over the winter.

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | I have a fair amount of B parts on hand as I service lots of Shimano reels. I'd be happy to take a look at it for you at no charge to see if i have what it takes if Dave's can't do it, would just cost you shipping both ways. If you know the parts it needs ahead of time I can also check and let you know. Just PM me. On the other hand, if it truly is a 400 B, that is a current model and most parts should be available. I wonder if you have a 400 CT (precursor to the 400 TE). That also can be retrofitted with many of the B parts, but Shimano unlikely to want to do it.

Posts: 29 | Any idea on checking the exact model I have? There’s a “YG” stamped on the reel foot

Posts: 29 | There’s also a “98” in a box on the original schematic near the model number. My mistake, its not a “B” version.

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | Does it say 400 CT on it? Post a picture otherwise. Again if you want to send it to me I will take it apart and at least tell you what it needs. And whether I have or can get the parts.
