| Was hoping someone could point me in the right direction on a few things.
I've made a wooden bait for trolling, and was wondering what the best choice is to seal it?
Also, should I seal it, then paint, then seal again?
Or just paint first and then seal a bunch of times?
Also, mine's not line through. I'll be epoxying the screw in eyelets in.
Any suggestions for that?

Location: Moses Lake, WA | I recommend that you seal before painting. There are a number of products for sealing wood ranging from penetrating wood hardeners to cellulose acetate butyrate and many in between. On my wood lures I soak the lures in CAB overnight, dry, place the lure in an oven at 200F for an hour, and then seal with two coats of epoxy. Then I normally spray with a white primer/paint and proceed from there. Getting an effective sealing layer is an important aspect when using wood blanks. I also use .092" ss eyelets and epoxy them in. Use the longest screw length appropriate for your size lure. Lure Parts Online has .092" screws up to 2.5" long.

| The main thing is what type of wood are you using, I use White Cedar and just prime the lure then White base and finish with the painting and two coats of E-tex Lite. With cedar you don't have the problems of the other wood that a musky tooth will break the final coating and they will, Bass wood is the worst.

Location: Richland Center, WI. | I was going to ask the same question about sealing wood but I am using cedar.
So it looks like I can just prime, paint and top coat it.
