We all know that in most situations, a smaller lure will be superior to a larger lure in spring. Does this apply to topwater?

I fish large baits year round. I believe small baits in the spring is like single hook sucker rig fishing. An ole tradition that dies hard...BR

I have to agree, start out big and end the season even bigger! If you really think about it, say for example the top-raider in my opinion is not a large bait or a gaint jackpot for that matter! Some will say downsize to like a zara-spook but I have never seen the need myself. No finesse fishing for muskies for me! Think big, just like all the women! Handy

The size of the bait depends on where I find the fish, and wheter the presentation will work well for me. most of my very early Muskie angling is done out of state now because of the opener being so late in N WI now, but I found myself throwing little stuff in the VERY shallow water on the Cave as it was easier to keep it functioning under those exact conditions.

Has absolutely nothing to do with 'matching the hatch' for me at all.
