8 PM Central Time, Steve will be talking muskies!

Bio:

Steve is Owner/Operator of STRIKE ZONE Muskie Charters, with over 20 years of muskie angling experience, and quickly approaching 1,000 lifetime muskies boated and released! Steve fishes on a number of lakes within the Kawartha and Huronia Watersheds in South-Central Ontario. He does cast periodically, but prefers to use precision trolling tactics that produce larger fish. (Approximately 300 muskies boated and released over 2000 and 2001 seasons, including 14 trophy class fish!) On some lakes, opportunities exist for trophy-sized naturally occurring hybrid – tiger muskies, and pike.

Steve’s boat is an Angler Boats 190C Cat, powered by a Merc OptiMax 150 Saltwater engine. This is a very unique centre console 19’ boat, with a catamaran stepped tunnel hull design that is capable of handling virtually any weather conditions on inland lakes with total safety. This boat is loaded with premium quality equipment that includes rod holders, downriggers, and planer boards.

Charters for 1 to 4 individuals are possible. Whether you want your first muskie, numbers, or a shot at a trophy class fish – Steve will accommodate you! Clients should be aware that Steve adheres to a strict catch and release philosophy, with the exception of a record-class fish. Photos of your catch can be provided (free of charge) if you desire.

In addition to running charters, Steve also does educational seminars on a variety of topics. He writes for many publications, and has had dozens of published works in Esox Angler, Musky Hunter, Waterwolf, Muskie, Pike and Muskie, The Canadian Fishing Annual, Ontario Fisherman, and Muskies Canada Release Journal since 1986, and is the former Editor of the Muskies Canada Release Journal (1999-2001). He has further material pending with Ontario Out of Doors. He is an active member of Muskies Canada, Muskies Inc., PIKEMASTERS, the Kawartha Fisheries Association, and the Outdoor Writers of Canada. He is the muskie pro-staff expert for the Reel North Fishing Show, and is working on the release of a commercial video on muskie trolling tactics. Steve is also a pro-staff guide for the Muskies101.com site, and a Field Editor for MuskieFIRST.com. Steve has been featured on the Reel North Fishing Show, and the Fish ‘N Canada Radio Journal, and will be shooting additional TV episodes with Reel North and with Fish ‘N Canada in 2002 and 2003.

When you fish with Steve, be prepared for the unconventional. Steve enjoys his role as an innovator; pushing the limits with new baits and tactics. Steve is one of North America’s most experienced and knowledgeable spoon anglers; he was one of the first to employ longer rods for casting and trolling applications; and one of the first to employ tools such as the use of a kevlar glove or the Boga Grip to safely handle fish. He has been building his own leaders for over 15 years, and is now building his own monster trolling spinnerbaits, as well as modifying existing commercial baits to improve their overall effectiveness. In 2002/2003, watch for a new salt-water twist to muskie fishing!
