Anyone have issues with Masterbraid "fraying?" I have two separate reels that are spooled with 100-pound beige master braid, and after only a few trips, I can see the tiny fibers that you'd expect to see on old braid. I doubt it's compromising the line, but I have TUF line on a couple reels since last year that get a lot more use and still look perfect. Anyone?

I've used 80lb Masterbraid for several years with great results. I tried 100lb this year and it too started to look "used" very quickly compared to the 80 on other setups with even more use than the 100. This was with a new rod too with a different type of guide insert, so I can't rule out it has something to do with the inserts.

I've tried breaking it with my hands (line wrapped around tool handles) and can't. It still seems to be strong, and I haven't had any issues with it.

Next year I'll have to reverse the line and try it on a different rod just to see. I wondered if the 100 lb isn't wrapped at tight as the 80 lb, and starts to show fibers easier. Just visually, the 80 looks like it may be a tighter weave than the 100 is.

i've used the 50 green for years............never a problem.

maybe you should contact them about it, that doesn't sound like the quality they put out there. i once had a problem with two spools of power pro, got a hold of them and they said sounded like i got seconds some how. they sent me two new spools for replacement and some free coupons for new line!

You may want to check your guides. I have Masterbraid on all my combos, and only one has shown unusual fraying. I suspect it's the tip top on that particular rod.

Tried for the first time this year...not a fan. If you backlash its frayed where it "knotted" on the reel, and does break.

Also holds WAY to much water, working a jerkbait with this stuff and your hands and pants are soaked.

Definitely not the guides. It happened on 2 different LT's that are in excellent condition. Also the same rods that had TUF line on them at the beginning of the year that still looks flawless.

I had this happening on 80# this year too. I thought it had to be my guides but I inspected and could not find anything, and since I have had power pro on I have not had a problem

I have used 80 and 100lb Bronzeback Masterbraid for the last 5 years without any problems. Because of its size the 100lb braid may show its fibers as it is rounder than most lines. I have never seen fraying to the point of breaking on a backlash. It does hold some water but during the summer the water retention is a positive feature on my thumb when casing big blades and plastics all day.
