| I'm finally taking the plunge and heading up to Lake of the Woods this weekend. Staying at Mylie's Place for just two nights to fish two and a half days.
If anyone is up around Sabaskong Bay this week/weekend (September 5 - 7), I'd love to share notes.
If anyone has anything they'd like to share ahead of time, I'm all ears! I've fished Vermilion a couple times, but mostly fish smaller, clear, weedy lakes. I've read a lot of reports and tips on here, so I might have a decent plan of attack, but nothing beats current reports and observations. I'll share my own when I get there.

Location: Elroy, Wisconsin | I'll be over at Buena Vista, next door in my motor home. Best advise I can give is rocks where you least expect them, muskies on rock points where you'd expect them. Bucktails. white been good for me this year. Have fun.

| Got my first trip under my belt. It was too short - really only 48 hours. Fished 10 AM Friday through 9 AM Sunday. Had one big fish up Saturday afternoon, then caught a small one. That was it. No follows Friday or Sunday. I don't know if we just sucked that bad, or if the high pressure setting in Friday morning screwed things up. I know we pounded the water about as hard as a guy can and really kept the faith the whole time.
The bloom was manageable. Bad in some areas, but easy to escape. Miles Bay water was quite clear - we could see about 4 ft down in calm water. I'd say the greenest area was where we fished south of Sunset Chain Channel.
Mylie's Place was awesome. It's very well-kept and our lodging was nice, clean, well stocked. Great location too. Justin was very helpful and easy to find.
mattgski - good luck this week. I'd think today and tomorrow should be good, but have to admit the rest of the week doesn't look too appealing! But what do I know, I can't even find fish on LOTW! |

Location: Hayward, WI | Don't feel bad. I went for the first time earlier in August (At Mylies also) and in my boat, I boated 3 and my wife caught one. Had some other chances, and we raised some fish each day (but not a lot), but obviously didn't catch fish each day either!
That's a lot of water to take in, and a different type of fishing than I'm used to at home, plus reports for even LOTW veterans have been slower than average this year.
Regardless of fishing, the Woods is a cool place to be. |

Location: Elroy, Wisconsin | Was up at Buena Vista Fri the 5th to the 9th. Saw two fish in weeds, Fri, Sat. All the rest were on rocks/ Clear sunshine has put the bite off on LOTW all year. Fri- Mon cauht two, small, Tuesday two small and then, and the 47-40-42 Northern. All on rocks in the afternoon. We spent 13 hours a day on the water. Not much for all the effort Fri-Mon, but Tuesday sure made up for. Cranks were the ticket.

HA, you're right Justin! The numbers from 'my' boat are the same as listed above, but my wife did catch a 30 with Justin and I managed to lose one with him also, from the famous Pooh boat.  A few others were seen as well, with one that was pretty wide across the shoulders.
I can't wait to go back next year!
