Posts: 32959 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Do you use this lure? Rapalla made a dandy with this lure, and twitched along above the new weeds or over the sand flats it catches everything in the lake, including muskies. What has been your experience with this bait? Do you continue to use it later, or after Spring does it end up in the 'box'?

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I like this lure, it works well in spring then usually gets put away until its needed for cold front condition or other special situations. I like it when the water is 65 degrees and under. This bait got me a check for $2500 in the PMTT in 2001 for a 44 inch tiger. I was twitching the weed pockets at noon under flat calm conditions, "one of those special situations".

Posts: 58 Location: Edina, MN | Just got back from a week of fishing in the Keys and I have 6 husky jerks with holes clear through them. We had a tough bite with unstable weather and the Husky Jerks sitting still upon a pause was more than the shallow barracuda could take. We boated several over 40". Caught some monsters on jackpots and Suicks were also very good. We followed up our flats fishing with some bass fishing and the Husky Jerks produced there as well. I find them to be a good spring muskie bait, but I generally prefer to pull out larger baits sooner than later. The best part about Husky Jerks is that they can be worked so many different ways depending upon the mood of the fish. Great bait!

Posts: 743 | 2 years ago, my biggest fish on LOTW came on a husky jerk. I think they really like that skinny profile, tight 'shake', and it hangs good too. Combined w/ the little hooks, if you get a strike, you should probably be hooked up...as long as the hooks don't bend out. i throw them, i get some weird looks once in while, but i throw em. tomcat

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | I used to use it on the river for late spring pike and walleyes. I don't even tie one on anymore due to the number of muskies(prespawn and pre season) that we were encountering.

Posts: 2091 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Reef Hawg, I hear you....a few years ago I went below the Whiting Dam in early to mid-march and I was just tossing for walleyes with light gear and hooked into two different ski's that costed me two husky jerks.

Posts: 2061 Location: Belgium | I have only caught one perch on them so far, while twitching an 8cm versin, nothing on the larger ones but I did loose two of the diving lips. Don't know how I did it.

Posts: 1936 Location: Eau Claire, WI | I love'em.... I upgrade the hooks to the next size and tie direct a leader about 8" long. The leader material I use is .013 solid strand, same thing I use for jigs except for Husky Jerks I I leave a small loop so the lure can "work" a little easier.
