I read the article on jigging for pike in the current issue of Esox Angler and noticed that the author said he puts split rings on all his jigs. Is anyone else doing this? It seems to me that it would be handy. I would not have to have so many jigs tied up with leaders at one time. I could just swap them on the same leader like I do the rest of my baits. I cannot really think of any negative effects that this may have. Anybody else have opinions on this?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Split rings work fine. I use a Berkely Cross Lock snap and don't have any hardware on the jig at all as a result. That works fine, too.
