Has anyone made any trips to Sugar Lake in Wright County, MN this year? Sugar is the closest lake to my home so I typically hit it fairly often. I haven't caught a fish out there this year yet and have only moved one small 30" fish back in early July. In the last 4 trips I have made, I haven't seen a fish and the pressure from the Muskie guys feels lower than usual. Did something happen out there? I'm sure the fish are there but I can't get them moving.

With the lack of rain over the last 15 days, the lake is exceptionally clear but you would think that you could still move something. I've hit deep, topwaters, shallows, weeds. About the only spot I haven't tried are the mid-lake humps.

The temp is at the highest I have seen it at 76 degrees which is still 5 degrees below where it was at last year. I moved a lot of fish on that lake last year and pulled a 50" and 36" out of there.

Been very slow for me also. Moved 2 fish in 2 trips out there. Both nice fish. Will be out tomorrow morning to give it a go.

Slow again today. Saw one fish, followed a 3lb northern in that was connected to a big crankbait.... Typical.

High skies, no wind, and 76* water temp. Great conditions.

I'm in the black lund tiller. Stop over and talk muskies.

Buzzing over to Sugar now. Storms/front moving in. Hoping for some evening action before this front hits. Gave it a rest and hit Independence Friday afternoon and didn't move a fish there in 6 hours of fishing. I am in the Crestliner tiller, usually just me. I'll keep an eye out for the Lund. -Jimmy

Nothing moving tonight, water is exceptionally clear. I caught a high 20s northern on a bulldawg and you could see him coming up from the depths like it was a swimming pool. Spoke with a couple other guys after dark who also saw nothing.

Hey guys.. been fortunate enough to work here in monti most of the time these last 3years, I feel I know the lake pretty well. haven't been out the last 2 weeks cuz of gearing up for the PMTT this weekend, but last time out stuck a 42 on top water "creepin it", pretty slow at dark... i moved a handful and got a few to go slow rolling swim baits off the deeper edges(kick n minnow, shadzilla), also gliding in big rubber, (helli dog, tubes).. ive learned this time of year that wherever "your" edge is where you like to cast, go another quarter cast or so towards deeper water with the boat....hope this helps! keep castin! blue 617 150evenrude

Fished Sunday PM 6-10. Much better conditions. Foggy, hazy but post front. Saw 3 fish. 1 almost ate right at the boat, had the tail of a medussa in his mouth for a second. Saw a lot of boats pitching lures. Pretty sad when a "good day" is almost getting the rod bent. Oh well, see you next weekend.
