Subject: Tranx noise?

Location: Lake Geneva, WI
My Tranx PG started making a screaming noise when casting. Everything works fine and when reeling it doesn't make any noise, only when casting. Has anyone else had this happen? Does anyone know how to fix this? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks! Mike

Generally when I've heard this on other reels it was a bearing. PIKEMASTER will probably have more to tell you

Yep, usually a spool shaft bearing. Tranx has 3 I believe.

Check your spool brakes first. If they're sticking a bit they will chatter when you cast. Change up the ones you're using or push them all in and try a few casts before looking at bearings.

My Saltist would do this and I would re-oil the bearings and things were back to quiet.

Sounds like the spool brakes are sticking.
1-2 drops of any reel oil on each of the spool brakes should take care of the noise.
If not then a spool bearing needs some oil.

Spool bearing just a dab of oil will take care of it
