My 400D sounded like hell all of a sudden on a cast. I pulled it apart and the metal ring around the cast control fell out. Can I just glue it back in place? Or?
Thanks

I'm trying to picture what metal ring there is around the cast control - I assume you mean the cast control knob? Certainly there is no "gluing" to be done. Are you perhaps talking about part 4565 on the attached schematic, which has nothing at all to do with nor is close to the cast control knob, but is the only "metal ring" I can think you are describing that could "fall out". If this is the piece you are talking about, then you simply need to position it so the 3 cover screws go thru it. If not, tell us which part fell out and we may be able to advise.

Send it back to Shimano & have them fix/replace it. I wouldn't be gluing any internal part on a reel.

Sorry I didn't explain it very well. It is on the palm side of the reel. The ring is supposed to be attached to the inner palm side and the 6 little deals you can click in or out for backlash control fit in there when you put the spool in the reel. I leave for Canada in a week and thats why I was going to try to fix it myself. Not very happy with this reel. In 2 years I have had it in for repairs twice and now maybe a 3rd time.

Yes use a little super glue to it and re - install it
it keeps the Brake Pins from falling out.

Thanks Pikemaster. I did that and it's good to go.
