Location: Minneapolis, MN | So my question is what makes some blades of the same type easier to pull through the water then others? I have a Musky Underground flashabou double mag 8’s that puts up more resistance then my Dadson Bullet or Double Cowgirl, and the MU double 10’s that I have pulls harder than my Big Bird. The mag 8’s was weighted to 3.5 oz and the double 10 was weighted to 4.5 oz, but I can’t think this is it because the Dadson weighs 4 oz. The MU baits do have the fullest bodies I’ve ever seen on blade baits, could this have something to do with it? |

| It's the cupping on the blades.... The flatter the blade, the harder it will pull. The more cupped, the less it will pull. |

Location: NorthCentral WI | Blade thickness also has a big effect. Thinner blades flare out easier which causes more resistance.
That said, I've never had a double 8 that pulled harder than 10's. |

Yeah I found it weird that the mag 8’s pulled harder but it’s certainly noticeable. I can’t even tell that my Cowgirl is there and can barely tell the Dadson is there, but I can certainly tell the mag 8 is there. |

| just curious... how does the clevis compare to the other bucktails? Are they the same size, smaller, or larger?
Is the wire extra thick?
Does it have a metal bead after the clevis?
I'm sure you have compared the blade thickness and cupping.
I'm not familiar with the different bucktails. Just thinking there may be some little difference causing the feeling.

Location: Madison, WI | There is some minor "tuning" that can be done to affect the amount of pull/lift the blades have. A clevis that is opened wider than normal will cause the blades to pull easier because they don't spin as quick due to the resistance on the wire from the clevis rubbing. These tend to run deeper due to the less spinning. closing the gap so its not so wide will make them pull harder and open easier on the cast too. |

It could be the reel as well. High dpeed reel give the feel that the bait is pulling harded then it really is. Ive found that with my toros. Just an observation.
Sorry I didn't specify before, they are all being used on the same setup.

Location: Minnesota | I built a bucktail with 4 skirt bodies instead of 2 and it pulled a lot harder than the other lures with only 2 bodies. All other components are identical. The skirt thickness can cause more resistance pulling it through the water. |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | So i had a chance to look at them yesterday and yeah the wire on the musky underground is much thicker and while the blades looked to have the same cup, when they were moving through the water I did notice the DCG blades weren't flaring as much as the musky underground one so yeah, I guess that's it. |
