Location: Dane Country | I have a 1987 Muskie Rampage with a 1987 75hp. Mariner motor. this past weekend i took it out on the chip. According to my gauges, I was doing 33-34mph right around 4750rpm.
Is this where i should be? or do i have the wrong prop? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Scooter |

33 - 34 is probably fairly close to where that rig will run..maybe a touch more to 37 - 38. I would check your tachometer first...
How does the motor perform otherwise? Hole shot good? handling? What are your idle rpms and what prop are you running?

Location: Dane Country | My prop says 48 then a serial number 19p. It is an alum. prop. Is steel or stainless steel better? I would have to check rpm at idle. Hole shot is ok (no rocket ship), boat handled great. motor purrs like a kitten. I thought these motors were supposed to run at 5250, the best i got was 4750 (I believe) according to the gauge. I'm very happy with it. I just wanted to make sure I was at peak performance. Thank you so much for your help. |

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | a 19p seems like a bit too much prop in my opinion. Id try a 17p. Youd get better hole shot and increase your rpm closer to the 5250 your supposed to be at. Just my .02 |
