I am in the process of looking for a new house and also want to buy a Tuffy x190.
What is the garage size I should looking for? Will a 2-1/2 car garage at 23' wide x23' deep work?
Any help would be appreciated
Joe

Bigger the better I have to take the hood off the motor to get it in to my garage . Get a swing away tounge gives you more room

23' deep is plenty.

Yes that size will work. If it is possible to go with a taller garage door (5 panel vs 4 panel) it will be a touch easier. It can still be done with a 7' height you just have to trim your motor down when backing it up the last little bit. Swing away tongue will help give you some walking room in front of it. Think about what axle trailer you want or if you are going to have to jockey the boat in the garage. My x190 is on a single axle trailer I would not be able to get a dbl axle into the garage without a lot of extra work.

it's good to know that 23' deep will work , as that's about as big as I have looked at. I didn't even think about the height of the opening as most garage doors are 7' ,something else to look at. The trailer will definitely have a swing away tongue and also dual axle , will have to get used that as My last boat trailer had single axle and was very easy to move by hand.

Thanks for all the replies
Very helpful

The Tuff Trail comes standard with a swing tongue.

You can never have too big a garage. I built my house, and made the 3-car garage deeper and wider. Boat side was 25 deep, with a 10X8 door. Door is fine, but I wish I'd have made it the extra 9 ' deeper I could have.

I have an X-190... my garage at home and up north are 30X30... Great size for that rig. I can back it right in without swinging the tongue. With that being said my garage door at home is a 7 foot high. I have to trim the motor down before backing it in. If I don't it will tear the cowling off. the door up north is 8 foot high. (no problem up north) MAKE SURE YOU GET A GARAGE WITH AN 8 FOOT DOOR.

Had a 28x28 with 8ft. doors. New place here with 28x70 garage and 16ft. doors is not tight at all. You may want bigger than 8ft. doors I know I did. You won't need 16ft. doors, however you will be a lot happier with doors bigger than 8ft. Garages seem to get out grown with time, I know mine did !

like shep said, never too big...I went with a 12' wide door and 9' feet tall for the Ranger spot... about 30 feet deep...kicking myself about now I didn't go 18' wide for that door and kept the 9 feet.. never too big! good luck w the new boat
