Hey everyone,

I'm staying on the east end of lake vermilion for the rest of the week, and so far I have not been having much luck with muskies. Only seen 2, one followed a phantom and another tried to eat my 16 inch walleye.

I've been targeting them in the shallow bays and right outside the shallow bays. Trying to intercept them from getting off the spawn. Water temps are ranging from 65 to 72. I've been throwing everything at them, twin 8, 9 even 10 buck tails. Phantoms, top water, suicks. Nothing.

Does anyone have any Tips for me? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Those sound like good tactics to me. Are you trying a variety of time periods?

Should still be in the weeds. Find some good looking weeds, deeper water or deep water close by. Fish the deep edge and up into the weeds. Grind some spinnerbaits and throw walk the dog topwaters like a weagle or big mama. You'll seem them buried up in the weeds during the bright sun. There are some good bays on the far east end of the lake. Bass, mud creek, armstrong, etc. Just stick with it.

Fished weed edges adjacent to deep water all day today. Nothing again. Some pike and that's it. I'm thinking they moved out to open water. I'm going to give that a try tomorrow, it will be my first time so I'm not sure how it will go. Thanks everyone for the help!

Have fish started showing up on the main lake rocks yet? My brother and I are headed up Sunday for a week. Feel free to send a PM if willing to give some advice! When do you guys start throwing powders and big blades on Vermilion?

Don't beat yourself up---its a tough lake to fish...lots of giants ---but hard to catch casting....Also a though time of year in my opinion....post spawn but pre-summer pattern.

Have a cabin on the lake and trust me----you can do everything right for days on end without putting a fish in the net------

The good news is when you get a hit---its usually a really nice fish---

What your doing and the advice you have been given is good---stick to it until the bitter end....

east end has been dead, for me. Fished the last two days, and only saw one fish. I fished weeds, mostly. Also fished rocks. Used bucktails, twitch baits, and topwaters. Talked to another guy who fished all day, yesterday. West end in the morning, east end in the afternoon. He didn't see a fish.
Try open water trolling.

West End water temps are about 66-67* Had 7 follows last week end in 5 hrs. of fishing deeper weeds...three over 50"using Twitch baits .......Today Boated one and lost one fishing Island Points/Saddle areas... Small bucktails..
They are there, and they have to eat sometime... stay with it...
