Posts: 716 | I have Tranx reels on two Thorne Bros customs. I use a 9 foot XH Predator with a PG model for large blades , big rubber etc and a 9' H minus 2 with a High Speed model for blades exclusively... it is a hair light for Super Models but handles everything else with ease (and throws SM's when required) . They balence well and perform great. A high end reel like the Tranx deserves a high end rod...you won't go wrong with a Predator from Thornes.

Posts: 3 | Why not just buy a St Croix "Big Nasty" from the Musky Tournament Legend series. Are these custom made rods even better than the Big Nasty??

Posts: 1000 | Apparently St Croix is coming out with some new muskie rods (no timeline) that are light years ahead of current LTM's. I bought a TI 9' XH to last me until those rods come out.

The blanks are comparable but you can get it tricked out the way you want. Thicker cork, longer handles etc... Nothing wrong with a stock LT rods they are awesome and the are all light years better than any off the second rate lower end stuff.

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | i second the big nasty....use it on mine and it is great. The stiffer tip then the sling blade makes it a better fit for big blades...

Are these custom made rods even better than the Big Nasty?? If you want big dual wells and a long full cork handle, then custom is the only way to go. Or any other handle combo for that matter. If St Croix offered a 17+ full cork handle with large foregrip I'd got a Big Nasty with such, instead I'm having one made on my favorite Big Nasty blank.

Posts: 427 | I know it is not the most expensive option but I have my trax pg on a TI 9ft xh and love it. I have not thrown many smaller bucktails with but anything 8s on up it does a very good job with?
