Any info out of Plant early in the season? Headed up there this weekend and was hoping to get the skinny on how fishing has been up there before we head out.

Yea, I'm headed up there for that tourney. Was originally going to mantrap, but I think we'll have better odds on Plant as it seems easier to learn in a short period of time.

He was a perch guy... and yes he did, was a nice looking fish

I caught one walleye fishing last week.... no luck throwing any baits though.

At least next year they won't be able to keep a fish like that.

Maybe the angler doesn't like replica mounts??? Could be the only legal musky the angler ever catches in their life time in the state of Minnesota??? Could be the biggest fish the angler ever catches in their lifetime??? Possible the fish had the lure in it a gill??? Maybe the angler doesn't like muskies but paid for a fishing license and its a legal fish??? Lots of scenarios possible for why the person kept the fish.

There is very little structure in the lake to speak of. you will get a follow from the big fish that sit on the few prominent spots (everyone sees them). If you look at the catch records from the last few years bemidji and frank schneider tournaments you will see it gives up a few big fish. Just go fishing if you figure something out you will be ahead of the curve.

Fish the reed edges and/or open water troll. There is really only 1 "hump" on the lake worth mentioning. It stands out on maps well. Cabbage is so/so still, but has been coming up in some areas.

Moved about 10 fish, with 1 being a tank. Couldn't get anything to bite though. This was all on the west shoreline of the lake. Seemed morning was the best bite, then nothing after about 11 a.m. Saw fish anywhere from 5-15 feet of water. Cool lake, will have to try it again later this year when the weeds are up a bit more.
