Headed to the Angle in 11 days.

Any thoughts on how the high water will impact the musky fishing???

not the end of the world necessarily but I do think it will be somewhat of a disadvantage. It does inhibit weed growth ( but there's not much weed left to be grown in the Angle anyways). I have traditionally done better in lower water levels....still LOTW though, wouldn't let it dampen your mood too much

How long are these water levels expected to last? Are they something that can drop in a month or so?

Sounds like its super high and rising. Click the release from yesterday in that link. Im going up opener and have had better luck on normal or low water years but they gota eat. It will be fun either way. Just gotta watch out for floaters.

lot of chatter up there about really bad floaters...to the point some guys will not be driving at night at all. Be careful up there...heard this was the highest recorded levels in like 13 years

Says in that link its the highest the rainy river has been in 85 years, and highest LOTW has been since 05 and its going to rise another foot.

Was up there about 10 days ago and yes, the floaters are extremely dangerous. There was actually a chunk of swamp/cattails about the size of a volkswagon just floating right down the middle of Sturgeon Channel. Needless to say, we had our heads on a swivel the entire time and I wouldn't drive at night right now unless I absolutely had to.

Im at my cabin right now through Sunday. Right now the lake is about the highest I have seen in my almost 30 years of fishing LOTW. And its suppossed to rise at minimum another 2 feet. I almost hit three deadheads yesterday, and actually surprised Im not seeing more. But expect more debris to head this way from the south end of the lake.

Also be aware the rocks you used to see are now probably under water.

Low 60's. Weeds? There are no weeds left on LOTW. At Youngs Bay the water is too the top of the boat ramp right now.

Heading up next weekend. Anyone have any insight if this high of water (85-95th percentile) changes the fishery at all? Will it cause the fish to move shallower? Or does it tend to push them away?

We have had real low water and normal to high water. This sounds like a whole new level of high.

How long do you guys think this high water will last? I'm going up in late August for the MI Chapter Challunge. Will it be down to normal by then......assuming normal rain the rest of the summer?

From your elbow to the tip of your middle finger. About 18 - 19"
