Heading out to visit Whitefish Lake just south of Hayward. Any idea as to water temps? Any tips (not spots) would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I was up on Lco a few weeks ago. It was 62°. I bet upper 60's for sure. Maybe higher.
I would fish the northend find a week edge.
Good luck.

around 70, look for green cabbage and/or open water fish.

Had 65 to 63 on a deep clear lake just north of Hayward this past weekend. I'm sure it ll be approaching 70 by this weekend

Last Friday evening was warm and sunny and I had about 66-68 on a bigger Hayward area cisco lake. Saturday was cloudy and breezy and it was down to 63-64, and cooling quickly in the evening. We've had a mix of sun and clouds this week, and getting some rain today. I'd guess the deep clear lakes will still be in the mid-upper 60 degree range this weekend. Raised just one fish each outing. One on a rock bar on a Cowgirl and the other on a deep weedline on rubber. Neither were terribly interested.

If I were going, I'd follow Jim's advice above (though I tend to do that when I'm out there too, and still come up empty handed!). I was on Whitefish 2 weekends ago and caught my share of 20-30" notherns on Cowgirls and Triple D's but no musky action for me. I found fewer bait balls than normal and am just assuming they weren't schooled up as much as normal or riding too high in the water to mark them.

Bring your bug spray if you plan to fish early or late.

Good luck!

Tucker

Thanks guys. Raised four fish, 3 Saturday morning in cabbage and 1 Saturday evening on gravel. Seemed to be chasing double 8's and big, articulated swim baits (mega Trouts). Also had a BIG (BIG) gar come flying in on that bait as well. Love those things.

Saw a bit of milfoil out there already. Hope that doesn't hurt that lake too much.
