Location: 15 miles east of Lake Kinkaid

I am not looking for spots, baits, or anyone's honey holes. I visit Traverse City at least once or twice a year to fish smallmouth and am thinking of bringing up musky gear this July. I have a few questions about the general location and depth that most angler's target muskies on these bodies of water. I am under the assumption that most muskies are caught over deeper water and are targeted trolling because they are out of casting range. I will be bringing up my or my friend's Ranger bass boat so trolling is not an option. I am just wondering if it is worth bringing a few rods and baits. Feel free to PM me.

Drive around until you see balls of bait on your sonar. Jig Bondy Baits, R.O. Tubes, Fuzzy Duzzits, St. Clair Grubs etc. Jig the baits at the depth of the bait fish.

Just curious why would trolling not be an option in a bass boat?

Reasons
1. No rail to mount rod holders (and I'm not drilling into the fiberglass)
2. Two strokes do not troll well

I trolled with my 2 stroke Merc all last fall and this spring without any issues. Not to mention every other 2smoke boat Ive ever been in for the past 36yrs. Pretty sure guys have been doing it that way since the beginning of outboards. I just go full throttle every once in a while to clear it out.

Strange there is no rails on a Ranger, even my little Nitro has them. I hear you though I would not want to drill into the fiberglass either. Heres how I set mine up in case you do decide to add some rails. The only problem I have is the rails are short only allowing 2 rods. When a rod goes off its very easy to get to it also.

Sounds like a road trip for Cisco-kid is in order. Trolling isn't the only, or necessarily the best, way to go after these fish. Get them bulldogs ready!
