I have a 60hp Mercury 2 stroke ('02) on a Smokercraft ('01). I have been having an issue over the last ~1 year with what I believe to be a leak in the gas line back to the tank. Whenever I store the boat for some time or travel with it the gas lines are drained fairly well and I must pump the ball several times to prime the lines. I have also noticed a greater issue idling after initial startup and if I choke the motor or increase idle rpm's the issue isn't present. I replaced the ball last year thinking that would be the issue and have tightened all fittings to ensure no leaks but was curious if I should replace all fuel lines from the gas tank to the motor or if there maybe is something else to investigate.
Thanks in advance
VMS

Hiya,

How old are the gas lines? If they are not as flexible as they once were, it might be a good time to replace them, if for anything preventative maintenance...

Lots of things you can do along the fuel lines...replace fuel filters, check screen in the fuel pump, etc. all can hold back fuel when under less pressure if they have any little clogging, etc. Frugal enough to be worthy of replacement every couple of years just to keep things running well.
