I made my first trip to canada last year and absolutely loved it. The downside was that from my front door to the launch was nearly 30hrs (NW Angle LOTW). I would like to make another visit to a shield lake, but avoid the length of travel. I live in NE PA (wilkes barre/scranton). Toronto for example is a little over 6hrs for me. Are there any bodies of water within a few hours of toronto that you all would recommend? Was possibly looking at the French River system. I would want to take my own boat. Thank you,

Lenny

I've been asking myself the same question - grew up in NW MN and fished a lot on the shield lakes around there, but I recently moved to New Hampshire. The main examples I've came across are:

- St. Lawrence River, particularly thousand islands area
- Kawartha lakes region north east of Toronto

Lake Nippising and Georgian Bay are also a little further up the road at ~9 hrs from Scranton.

I have no experience on any of these bodies of water but I've seen them mentioned many times. There's also the Ottowa and Niagara rivers but I they don't seem to qualify as shield lakes.
