| 135 Mariner will intermittently shut down the Ranger.......wondering if anyone has had the same problem? Motor is late 90s model and it usually happens when the throttle is between half and wide open. Up on plane, alarm goes off and motor slowly backs down and then shuts off. Sometimes I can turn off the key and then turn it back on one time and it will be fine...sometimes it will take three or four restarts before working normally again. Can happen multiple times in a day and then not again for a month.
I was told it might be the throttle position sensor....anybody had the same experience? Ideas? It hasn't left me stranded yet, but also doesn't appear to be going away. |

| EFI or Carbed motor?
What alarm are you getting? Beeps? Or solid tone? |

Location: northern indiana | Does it "pee" right? I had similar issues and it ended up being a water pump. |

| Solid alarm could be the Overtemp Switch, or the oil alert.
Do a search on Google for 135 Mercury Solid Alarm. I think you'll find some good troubleshooting tips there.
