| Spankys fireballs are made heavy and you can order them with extra weight.
I also will run a 1oz weighted leader from Stealth Tackle on them so I'm down about 9 ft with a medium retrieve and deeper with a slow retrieve, for when those fish are deep.

Willow blades will get you a lot deeper than Colorado blades too.
Going one step further, willow blades that rotate tight to the body of the bucktail like the Mepps Giant Killer run nice and deep. Those with blades that swing away from the body like the Bucher Willow Buck don't run as deep. The Giant Killer is an old forgotten lure that still catches fish for those that use it. |

Location: NoDak | I have found that if you have a rubber core inline sinker you can pull the rubber out and slide over a single strand leader and squeeze it on , for a more weedless presentation |

| The weighted leader by stealth tackle works great for getting bucktails deeper. It doesn't require any modifications to the lure. It also improves casting bucktails in heavy wind. |

Location: Detroit River | You could always splice a few feet of lead core inside some power pro hollow ace. It won't effect the action of the lure like adding weight to the bait or leader will. |

| In a straight bucktail model I'd of course consider the Mepps Giant Killer and also take a look at the Smity Ruslur or RJ Esoxtigertail. Both of those have heavily weighted bodies.

Location: oswego, il | What bwb said. Take a bell sinker and add it to the middle or back hook split ring or anywhere else you would lime to put it. You can add alot of weight this way and you have a bucktail that can get deep if you need. |
