I just picked up my first Suick and I plan to use it with my 7'6" glider setup. I'm wondering if the stealth spring leader will have any negative effects on the suicks action.

I use a similar set-up. 6-8" wire leader with no swivel and split ring. I use small suicks a lot in the spring with a dedicated jerk rod combo I don't mind the inconvenience of attaching with a split ring.

I really started putting sometime in with a black suick last year, I cant remember one outing that it didnt at least raise a fish. I use a single wire leader 144lbs about 8in long, On that one i have my leader tied directly to the bait and no split ring. Most of my suicks have a small eye and my snaps do not fit in them anyways.

Can anyone provide any insight one how the different leader types, jerkbait, single strand, multistrand, and flourocarbon affect the caution of the lure?

I used to use solid wire but now I use either flouro or sevenstrand and I see no difference in action or fouling with dive/rise jerkbaits.

I caution using a split ring with baits like jerkbaits, Dawgs or cranks ur ripping. Twice I've had the welded ring or snap work its way through a split ring while ripping em back. Luckily got my dawg back on a shallow rock reef and luckily the other was a crank that was afloater. Wouldn't have beileved it if it hadn't happened to me, twice. In the Dawg case I had a split ring on the Dawg and was using a Stay Lok on the leader. The Stay Lok came back closed. The crank incident I was using a solid weld on the leader and a split on the crank and it worked its way through.

What really had me puzzled is if each incident took multiple casts to work through the ring or if it happened on 1 cast.

Use the strongest possible it's not about losing a fish it's ALL about leaving the lure in the fishes face that's a bad deal you will get another fish but that one WILL DIE.

2X, flouro works great with a Suick.
