| Cool. It looks like the handle is from a Daiwa Saltist so it should be pretty heavy duty. Looks like the throw, or length of this handle isn't much longer than the standard paddle handle, but the big rubber grip would be nice to hang on to. First I need to worry about getting a 400D.  | |||

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Zinox - 3/21/2014 7:33 AM What's the lenght of the Daiwa handle vs the stock handle ? From center to knob. On the Shimano 400D the handle is 55mm from the hole to the paddle, 110mm total long. On the 400TE it was on 90mm total !!!! On the Lexa both the Power handle and stock handle are 60mm from the hole to the paddle, 120mm total. Warning Will Robinson !!!! There is a reason Shimano does not have a power handle for the 300/400 Calcutta D reels from the factory, there is only 1/2 of a spool pin on the spool shaft so the first time the reel engages on a cast say good buy to the spool pin and spool, and the pinion gear. Parts are VERY COSTLY to replace on the D reels, U have been warned.  | ||

The paddle handle is Balanced and is very light in weight, where as the Single power handles are not, and they weigh alot more in weight so when you cast it is very easy to engage the reel on the cast. The power handle for the D is well engineered, alot of work went in to it so it would fit the D reel, I just don't like Power handles period, I did not like them on the TE reels and for sure don't like them for the D reels. If you must have a power handle make sure keep a few more spool brakes on, so you don't backlash and keep the power handle facing upwards during the cast, that will help to keep the reel from engaging on the cast. Also keep your thumb on the cast button on the cast so it won't engage during the cast. Also don't over power the cast let the rod load and do the casting for you. | ||

Posts: 309 Location: Elgin IL | I tried out the new power handle and was impressed. The reel never engaged I casted hard and had the handle in all positions....seems balanced very well. I know you don't need a PH for this reel but if it makes my 16 hr day a little easier I'm all in. I plan on using this on 8s and 9s and some spinnerbaits on my spring rod. If it is a right hand reel then turn the reel so the handle is facing up during the cast, your writch will thank you at the end of the day, and that will help to not engage the reel during the cast. I also keep my thumb pushing down on the cast button during the cast. | ||
