just started looking at it and it seems its a great way to go but you need a 999 SI and another $1,000.00 for the cheaper of the 2 transducers!!! the motor driven one is $2000.00

so min investment is $2200.00 approximately but it appears to be the "Cats Ass" as far a locators as you can see in all directions

Won't be long and you will be able to toss your bait out and watch it come in to the boat. Then be able to see a musky follow your bait so you will be ready for the fish to hit long before you can actual see it.

Hmmm. Makes me wonder how We ever gotten by with a trusty ol lowrance x65 back in the day!!!!. I have just the side scan 998 and it's plenty for me. That new stuff is incredible that's for sure.

Not an expert by any means but have spent considerable time in buddies boat who has one. Great technology and has put fish in the boat for us (walleye). Here is my take. Get two transducers and use side scan if you want to see off sides of boat. The 360 excells in seeing in front of the boat. Bass guys gave it figured out by putting 360 bracket on trolling motor up front (20' difference) If you are a troller it is the best thing going. Can see the fish swimming away from boat off to the sides. Normally do not care what is behind me so 270° vision is what is needed. You can accomplish this by turning boat with side scan and two transducers. Hope it makes sense. If I had an extra $2 grand laying around burning a hole in my pocket, I'd buy it. Otherwise buy a $47 transducer with current unit.

Great article and right on the topic, all I am saying is I think if your going to spend $1200 on a 1199 or say 1500 why not try the 360 as its not a lot more. I also agree that fishing should be fun and not a tech race but there is a lot to said for a one person to put his freinds on the fish? and these things help?

Thanks Bill

I believe you can hook 360 up to a 798hd si bird...much less than a 999

Thanks may try one before buying as I just got a Drift boat and everyone is suggesting that a good side scan is all that is needed, my problem is I research a lot but like to buy 1 time. as an example have a 1970 corvette that I bought when I was 19 37 years later still have it !!! . I don't like to try a cheaper model then say to myself" should have bought the other one" then have to upgrade
Thanks Bill

Do you have transducer on the trolling motor or back? Dealer saying you can't mount on Terrova and wonder if that is true or after market mount available. Thanks!

The 360 dose not mount to the terrova. It will mount to the fourtrax

I have been considering the 360 as well. First, I bought my Humminbird's last year and hope to get the 360 later this year. I shopped for the HB's at 3 different places. All the salesmen I talked to said to absolutely not go smaller than the 898 size screen, the 798 was simply too small to get the read and definition you need for 360. I bought 998's and have been learning side imaging, and I would agree I would not want to go much smaller - at least the rear unit at the helm. 898's would probably be the minimum size IMHO.

Or go with 2 798 's for 1/2 the price of an Onix. Dedicate one for whatever imaging you are doing and mapping on the other. Just saying. Don't get me wrong. I have a 1199ci HD SI Combo and a 959ci HD Combo both hooked up to the I pilot Link. But if I was concerned with the $$$ I would not be afraid to the 798. They are great units, just smaller for my aging eyes.

for trolling the frames per sec aren't that great at all if your going over like 3mph.. Just do this and you have 360deg imaging..
