Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Looking to tie up some leaders for trolling. I do not like to play around with crimping tools and will just tie a good clinch knot...looking in the 50-70lb range, either fluro or hard mono...
Suggestions?

Location: Money, PA | I have used TripleFish, Berkley Vanish and Ande Fluorocarbons...All of which have served me well. I use 80lb to 100lb and tie a surgeon's end loop at one end with a quality bearing swivel at the other with a Palomar knot...You'll need pliers to pull the tag end tightly....NEVER had one fail and they last a long time. My trolling leaders are no less than 36"

Note: Reason I don't tie anything but a Surgeon's loop at the top is so my lure retriever can easily slide over the loop in case I get snagged up. |

Location: Hayward, WI | I tie 150 lb Seaguar Fluoro without any issues. I do use a crimp but I think more so to keep the tag end tidy, and just a little extra insurance. I tie a Centauri knot (this will tighten down snug to your snap or swivel rather than leave a loop if not crimped though). I also tried another knot - I think a perfection loop. I believe this one will not slip down tight if you were wanting to leave a loop, but it leaves the tag at a 90 degree angle so more likely to catch weeds if not using a crimp to stick it down to the main line.
Either of these knots would be very easy to tie in 100lb line being that 150 isn't bad. With some of the knicks I've had in 150, I'd be very nervous going below 100 lb myself. |

| why not just use wire? AWF surflon 1x7 60-90lb, whatever you think you need... 2 turn no slip knot the swivel and clip, simple and easy to make up on the boat |

Location: Walker, MN | You can tie up to 80# flouro using an (figure 8 knot) if you practice a few times. Secure the terminal end to a nail or something and synch down with a pliers on the tag. |

| The figure 8 is closest to 100#. Used that knot many times rock climbing. |

| I tie 100 pound Seaguar and Berkley vanish with a blood knot. I've tied as high as 150 pound with that knot as well. It works best if you have another set of hands around to hold the bait (while in the boat), but that knot clinches down on itself. |
