I bought a slammer minnow bait this winter and tried casting it in my pond yesterday. No matter how slow or fast I reeled it or pulled it, it would turn on its left side and pull to the right. How can I fix that? Do I need to try bending the eye on it or something else or should I just send it back to rollie and helens for a new one?

thanks,

Adubs

I'd just go ahead and bend the eye. Most lures aren't tuned and require that the user do it by that method.

Yup, the line tie (where you snap your leader to) just needs to be bent to the side a little. Pretty common with most out of the box crankbaits. Might have to tweak it from time to time after catching a fish too.

If for some reason it just won't run correctly, try PMing Bill Schwartz on here (owner of Slammer). His customer service is usually quite good and I wouldn't doubt that he would swap you baits.

I had a deep diving slammer that was running on the right side and I just slighty bended the eye and it easily fixed the problem. I had the same problem on a perch bait, did the same thing and it also fixed the problem.

Bend the eye the direction the bait needs to go to run straight.

Also, check the eye for a buildup of epoxy.  That will affect the tracking.   Pop it out with your pocket knife.

it has epoxy built up in the eye, I'll knock that out first before trying to bend it. Thanks for the tips

Follow the tips mentioned above and your Slammer should run true. If you have further problems I would contact Slammer directly with your concerns. Bill is a great guy that stands behind his product!

Like mentioned in the other post's, bending the line tie opposite of the way its running will straighten it out. If not or your having troubles, send it back ans I will will replace it or take care of it.
