Location: Northern Illinois | So I figured out that my 175 Johnson 2 stroke outboard has the VRO disconnected and that I'm going to have to mix the gas manually. What type oil do I need to mix with the gas? And also what ratio will it have to be? 50:1? Any suggestions help... Thanks Cranker |

On the older Johnson motors, the mix was a 50:1 ratio and was recommended to use when the VRO pump has been disconnected. Amsoil HP injector could be used at the 50:1 ratio, but any other TC3-W oil will work. This will be a touch more expensive than the BRP 2 stroke oil, but it will not smoke anywhere near as much and will burn cleaner throughout the engine.

X2!! Steve has ya covered. The Amsoil is really nice, and less smoke too. |

| I use the amsoil too.. They did change the name a year or 2 ago though, so the HP injector is now called HP marine..
