I thought I would pass along that Joe Seeberger's 58lb. IGFA 8lb line class record is in the running for another accolade at the IGFA's first annual 2013 annual angler's choice contest.

It's kind of a neat deal, and easy to sign up online if you would like to cast a vote, there is no cost, and each vote will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win some decent prizes yourself. You can vote once every day in March, and each vote nets another entry into the prize pool drawing.

This is an excellent way to quietly voice your opinion if you feel Joe's magnificent muskie is worthy. If Joe's fish wins, it should help to increase awareness for Michigan's up and coming Great Lakes muskellunge program (the state where the fish was caught).

Good Luck Joe! Http://www.igfa.org/contests/anglerschoice

Sometimes I wonder if MDMWRP and IGFA/FWFHOF records should be mutually exclusive...

Log on to IGFA - it's not that hard to understand. There are multiple fish to be recognized for different line class records. Joe's muskie is the only muskie among them. There are catfish, marlin, etc. Many different species for different line classes. Let's get a muskie recognized!

Your link didn't work the first time so I was merely asking what they were voting on, as it was not clearly explained in your post - it almost seemed like you/they were asking to vote whether it was worthy of being a world record, which seemed ridiculous. Or maybe it was a photo contest or something. I've since gone to their site and see what they are doing.

Yeah no problem, I struggled with trying to explain exactly what it was because it's just some kind of promo deal the IGFA is doing.  I probably could have explained it a little better too, but was a little rushed then… probably why the link didn't work the first time.

I just checked the IGFA website and there is only 140 votes in the first two days for all of the fish in the contest, so if you vote every day your odds on winning one of the prizes would be about 1 in 70 if the voting continues at the current pace.

The gift card for the Costa sunglasses this week would be pretty sweet, and next weeks prize is for a reel that's worth about $150.  It takes about 2 min. to register and vote the first time, then maybe 15 seconds to vote after that.

No worries! I actually tried to enter as an imember and they don't like my email address for some reason. So I can't vote anyway.

What a great opportunity to have the species recognized on a global stage. I'am sure there are plenty of fisherman out there that don't even know what a muskie is. I have been working hard the last couple of days to get the word out. I am a bit suprised that only 160 people have voted thus far considering it is the only fish recognized from the U.S. Will keep on it as I don't want to see the muskie take second place to a cod!!!

The muskie is at 199 votes but the cod has 290 so let's dig in and crush that thing people!
Have you voted today?
I did!
Who's with me?!?!?!?
Registration took me all of 45 seconds and you can vote every day.

The cod is significant. For years we thought that selective harvest had removed the largest specimans and diluted the gene pool to the extent that only smaller fish remained (sound familiar?).
The fact that an angler caught a record cod is huge, and give hope for other species that have been overharvested in the past, muskies included.

I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who voted for the muskie. She finished 3rd overall in the competition which is not too bad if you really think about it. I am very fortunate to have caught such a beautiful fish and appreciate the opportunities I have had to share my story with all types of sportsman. One thing I have learned about the muskie nation is that you are all extremely passionate about catch and release, so the future looks good for more big fish to be caught. Good luck to all on your fishing adventures to come this year.
