I fish most of the time with Mavmskyb8. He recently put a CD player in his boat. I'm wondering if the vibrations from the music will have a negative or positive effect on the muskies. He typically plays Yanni, John Denver, The Carpenters, and The Captain and Teneille. If he's really fired up he might play the song from the TV show, "Friends". Oh, he does like Elton John, but only the songs with KiKi Dee. Do any of you all have any experience muskie fishing while music is playing?

I've played all types of music for the 'skis and without a doubt, the best music to get the big girls going is hip-hop bump-n-grind tunes ...

It also doesn't hurt to through a little Musky Joe Weiss in the cd player and listen to the stories about ol' Fencepost ...

MuskiesFirst Dudes and Dudette's,

For sure the best music for calling up the HUGE muskies is Jackson Browne. Herbie will tell you THAT for sure!!

We caught at least 4 over 40 pounds with Jackson Browne playing over the waves.

What/which Jackson Browne? Old stuff like Running? Saturate? Everyman? Late Sky?

Man, that guy sure could/can write some great tunes.

It's got to be classic Rock and Roll. Man fish love it, trolled up 9 fish in 7 hours at last September's Can-Am. You can have it loud when trolling but I would suggest lowering the volume when casting. You should see the looks we got that day on the water, not sure if it was because our tunes were loud or that we were bangning fish.

I've touched on this before, and I love my metal!!! Love my honky tonk too, and that really throws a curve ball at em, when they hear Zakk Wyldes Black Label Society(best guitarist to ever walk the planet bar none), and I switch over to a little live Waylon!!!

John Denver,Yanni, The Carpenters, and Elton John!! This will definately drive the fish away. However it will also keep other anglers away from you too. So you may have one side of the lake to yourself. I say play it for a while then when they leave turn it on until they get close again. Seriously though it might effect muskies from striking if they can hear peoples voices. I'd be more concerned around when the fish get close to the boat. I'd vote for no music!

Nothing better to help coax strikes than a little Metallica, unless of course you have the Motor City Madman--Ted Nugent on board. Cat Scratch Fever will turn uninterested lookers into eaters.

NWild, I'm with you, man. There's nothing like a little "Nuge" or Metallica. I hope I can get mellow Mavmskyb8 to go for it. It's his boat and CD player, and now he's talking about buying a new John Tesh CD. Maybe Lightning is right though. Nobody would be crowding us. I'm glad to hear muskies like rock.

YANNI?????????? ICKY...

Jimmie will be howling from the sound system on the Purple Patriot this year...as will U2, Zeppelin, and an Iron Maiden tune once in awhile. Time to get serious about the music.

Now you're talking (or singing?), Mav. I'm looking forward to it. I was just kidding. I know you don't listen to Yanni that much.

When I'm fishing, I listen to the waves slapping against the side of my aluminum boat. I listen to the steady hum of the outboard chuggin along at 3.5 mph. I listen to the ducks quacking and the geese honking as they fly by. I listen to the freezing rain and snow bounce off my Mustang floater suit. And sometimes I even hear the violent scream of a clicker drag as a 40 pounder smashes my 10" perch Believer.

Keep your hooks sharp.

Hey Mav,

It's the Yanni poster in the bow that's really creepy.  I think that's why the fish aren't staying with your figure 8's.

Pretty good joke, Esoxalot <g>.  At least we know what to get Mav for his birthday.  Maybe a Barbara Streisand CD.

The best I've found is Duke Roubillard, ZZTop, George Jones, Placido Domingo, the Marine Corps Marching Band. I play them loud and never found them to disrupt the fishing. (Maybe the fishermen, but not the fishing.) But I still have to put Duke Roubillard as number 1 on my list.

BURL IVES!!! This year I'm mounting a life sized cardboard Burl on a bow placed turntable; he will slowly turn as he belts out "Silver & Gold" and other haunting melodies. I'm also in the process of doing a computer disc mix w/ Burl, Bing Crosby and Eddy Albert, featuring world class music tracks from "Oklahoma" and the "Bells of St. Marys". When approaching a fishing spot, I have found that softly playing the theme song from the Mr. Rogers show will produce a calming effect on the fish/wildlife in the immediate area, increasing your chances at success 10 fold. To drive away competition, play the theme song backwards on 9...

I play Hank Williams Sr. extensively - moves other boats off the spot and makes the 'skies aggressive.

If you want to keep people off your spots, put on Alvin and the Chipmunks.
