| So I recently came into some nice Cedar which I decided to cut with my Step Dad to make a few jerk baits. I've got the cedar shaped and othe than some finishing sanding, it is ready for the next steps. My problem is I've never really done a lure like this before.
A few details: I've sawed the blanks in half with the intention of doing through wire construction via the gluing them back together with epoxy.
My big question is on the action. How would folks suggest weighting something like this? I'd like the bait to run shallower for milfoil, but I'd also like it to have "some" hang time. Also, what are suggestions for the back metal fin a la tuning? If I wanted it to have a bit of wobble on the rise, what sorts of things should I think about doing?
This is a for fun project for me, the ultimate would be if I get something to eat one of them. Any tips are greatly appreciated.
