Did they make a lot of upgrades between these 2 motors?

I am very interested in this new motor, but do not know anyone who has one. I have seen some youtube videos, etc of the new features and I really like what I am seeing, but having no experience with the brand has me a bit nervous. Help ease this. My long term goal will be to link it to my Lowrance Electronics that is now available with the PinPoint feature.
Some of the things I am interested in are battery usage. I have been pleased with the Minnkota battery saving features, how long can a 24 volt troller last on a charge?

I saw one demonstrated at the NPAA conference in January. I was told battery use is maximized. I was impressed! This ain't your Grand Daddy's MotorGuide.

Cool. It seems the bass guys love the Motorguides, but those are cable operated and I have no interest in those. If we can just get rid of some of this snow I will get more motivated to think open water and look for new goodies.

i run a motor guide cable and a motorguide auto with remote and interchange them as fishing conditions dictate and love them. i've considered upgrading to the newer model for the coming season. they are built like tanks and work consistently. i spoke to a friend who is a known guide about the newer models. he uses a terrova but told me that he has talked to fellow professionals who use what they want … they are moving to the new motorguide product because of it's capabilities/features. this is what's driving me to consider an upgrade from the 3 year-old models that i'm using.

don't think twice about going motorguide … they make a great product!

My 105 lb 36 volt, Xi5 arrived at my house yesterday. Very excited to try out this new trolling motor. Been in touch with the folk at MotorGuide for awhile about this motor and glad I'm getting the opportunity to use it this year. Lots of great features and it also links up with Lowrance units. Like most of the high tech boat toys, I will probably use about 10% of this trolling motors capabilities but I am definitely excited about the quicker response time while turning, more efficient with battery usage and the wireless pedal so I can move around my boat a lot easier. I will definitely post how this motor performs once I get it out on the water...but I'm sure it will be awesome.

I have had my w80 for I think five years and love It. Would never go back to I a non wireless model. I heard the xi5 has even better digital control and more gps features on the pin point than other brands. Can't wait to try one

I am interested in the 24 volt version of the Xi5. Planning to order a new boat soon and get the Lowrance HDS touch units to link to the trolling motor. I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more feedback on the Xi5's this year as people get more experience with them.

My current trolling motor is a Motorguide Tour Addition 24 volt, 80 lb unit. Everyone that fishes with me comments on how quiet the motor is compared to other brands. I'm very happy with it.

I upgraded from the Motorguide Freshwater series and the Tour Addition costs about twice as much but is probably four times better.....IMO.
