A NaCl60 6.4:1, Lexa 300/400 6.3:1, or a Komodo 364. All strong reels with good line pick up. A lot of variables to consider for the choice that were not mentioned... your height, hand size, what you want to do with that combo, what lures to throw with it, etc., etc. Quite a few good reels out there now to choose from. Don't overthink it, and if you end up not happy with your choice, you can always sell it and buy a different one.

The wife bought me a Big nasty/400D combo for Christmas and the way it feels in the hand, I am sure it is gonna get lots of use this summer...

Revo NaCl 60 in 5.4:1 would be a good fit also. Both very comfortable reels.

I'm 6'2 225 lbs, with bigger hands.

I was thinking about the 400d or another NAcl, was thinking maybe going with the higher speed real also. as i could always swap my current NAcl to this rod and put something else on the 8 ft root if needed.

The 400D is a 5.0 gear ratio, so your NaCL at 5.4 is quicker.

Wow!! That is a sweet gift!! That setup has a real nice "feel", tried it at the sports show. Maybe someday!

Clammer, I think she kinda likes me... 400d is quicker by 1" per turn based on specs for both reels, must be slightly larger spool diameter. 27" to 26" so pretty much a wash. Both are nice all around reels

Actually the 400D is quicker by 1 inch. 27" per turn for the 400D & 26" per turn for the Revo Toro.

Thanks Zib...I was just looking at gear ratio! Glad you corrected me. Nice deal then, you get a bit faster line pickup and the power of a slightly lower gear, hmm.

The Lexa 400 5:1 does something like 27" per turn as well and can be had for right around $200 new if you search.

I wonder why the Lexa 400 6.3 gear ratio don't come with a power handle, but the other two models do come with a power handle. Great price for a reel, just wish I knew more about them since they only been out since fall.

The 400D would be good but if you can find a used 400 TE that would be my choice

I'd throw your revo on your 9' and buy a higher speed reel for the 7'6" jerk bait rod...

Yup easy, if I was a righty in your position I'd get another revo toro in a 6.4 and put that on your mojo and put the winch on the big 9' rod for the big stuff.
