| Looking for a place to Guide 2-4 people for Quality Muskie fishing say 2-3 days sometime this year what's the best season up there as I live in Illinois? .
here are the list in order of importance
1. catch muskies prefer 40 + if possible size not top priority
2. possibility of Muskie on the fly rod
3. knowledgeable guide, quality equipment.
4. comfortable lodging

Location: Wisconsin | Try Micah Langkamp 715-462-4637. I have fished the Hayward area since the eighties and he showed me spots I didn't know where there. Used him last year and had a great time and caught many fish, several over 40, and my PB!! Good guy to spend some time with too. Not sure about fly fishing, I don't so I didn't ask. Has a nice rig, St Croix LT rods and everything you would need.

| I don't do muskies on the fly but I can definitely take you to some places that would be worth fly fishing. In regards to lodging there's plenty of nice resorts in the area. Treelands is on the Chippewa Flowage and is very nice (pretty pricey though). Lakewoods resort on Lake Namekagon (good lake for 40+ fish) is also very nice. Last year the best months were May, September & October. |

Location: WI | Larry Mann is the flyfishing guru in the Hayward area. He runs the Hayward Fly Fishing shop. As for guides who use "regular" tackle, you've got ALOT of choices from "old" pros to young up & comers. haywardlakes.com is a good place to start. |

Location: NW Wisconsin | Chris Willen is the man to talk to. He specializes in musky on the fly and is ridiculously good at it. He'll work his butt off to put you on fish. He doesn't just guide the same stretch of water day in and day out like a few of the other guys do either. It would be worth getting in touch with him at www.chriswillen.com or (847) 878-4781. I'm not sure what it is, but I know he runs a multi-day trip special too. Ask if you talk to him.
I'm a believer that there is no better time to fish muskies than in the fall. September and October are the best time to fish up in this area.

Saw he was selling a Slingblade. Nice rod, I am looking to expand my LT collection and would of grabbed it, but I already have that model. Very nice rod!

Location: Wisconsin | Musky opener is normally the Saturday of Memorial day weekend in Northern WI. I hope to be up there sometime around then as well. Have to see how the work schedule pans out.
What gear did you have before the tranx and the slingblade/predetor??
Those are some serious setups you have there. |

These are the first Muskie rigs I own all other stuff Is mostly fly fishing and a few walleye rods but over the years I have only bought once by getting the better stuff so these will be my only 2 rods for a long time

That is Memorial Day weekend so I would choose something soon so as to have the most options. |

Thanks for the help as all I'm looking for is a place to sleep . That or the Chip-wa Micah suggested forgot that that was Memorial Day so don't think that the wife would be joining but will see

Location: Wisconsin | Well if that is all you are looking for the Chip-wa is really close to Micah. Don't know their rates. The Spider Lake Motel is not to far, maybe 5 minutes away. Don't think you will be getting a better price than what those two places offer.
