I am loving this winter. Its about 50 now rain.snow melt/flooding and then back to the polar vortex next week. We will welcome in March with lovely single digit temps. I doubt the Illinois DNR will net their brood fish anywhere near normal time this year. I will ask Saturday at the IMA meeting what hatchery conflicts may occur because of this.

I actually like the snow. The cold sucks. But the snow I don't mind very much. What I DO mind is the fact that my sump pump is frozen outside somewhere, and today I've been watching the sump pit fill up near to the top from the rain and melting snow. I've spent the last few hours trying to figure out a way to route the #*^@ thing somewhere else, and I am coming up with nothing that doesn't involve a trip to the hardware store and a lot of creative PVC engineering.

I am getting ready to just blow the #*#* out of a basement window, but that will likely only wind up right back in the sump pit.

75 degrees today, but the water temps were running a consistent 43, except right at the point where the actual creek ran into a cove, then found water as warm as 50. Too far back in the coves tho to interest anything with fins. Got blown off the water by 40mph gusts.

-6 overnight low for the flatland. I have a feeling the hatchery will run into an issue with collecting pike and musky brood conflicting with other species that need their allotted time. Already brought up as a concern by the hatchery.

I don't know how you guys handle that kind of temps. People in my area are complaining that is +5 degrees. Got 8" inches of snow last night very unusual for this time of year. Its typically in the mid 40 by now.
