Posts: 360 | Looking to buy a couple trolling poles. I don't troll too often so I'm not looking at spending a ton of money. Been looking at catfishing poles as well. Just wondering what everyone else is using?

Posts: 455 | You don`t need to spend much. Glass is best anyway. You want the rod to load slowly when the fish bites. Get rods that will handle the lures your running and still have flex left for the strike. Eagle claw, Ugly stick, Power plus bass pro. They are all pretty good.

Posts: 1084 Location: Aurora | Shimano TDR 8 footers are purty solid all around trollers & easy on the wallet. If yer set on higher end stuff be patient and check the buy, sell, trade board here for folks listing their top end stuff fer round two thirds to half the price of new. Most of the stuff has about 3 hours on it so it's even money should you decide it's not for you and decide to sell it.

Posts: 62 | Picked up a trd 8' hvy this spring, and a diawa heartland 9'6'' hvy, havent tryed them out yet but both seem very solid. Looked at some shimano taloras aswell and they look very nice and a reasonable price. The diawa seems like it should handle baits up to depthraiders, and the shimano im guessing perchbaits and 10" jakes.

Posts: 865 | I like the 8' Glass St. Croix Rods are #1 for trolling. But they are also very expensive I think they are $400 a pair You can not go wrong with the 8'Hvy TDR Rods and only about $80 a pair

Posts: 152 | Check out the Fenwick glass musky trolling rods. I've got two and love them. I think they run around $100/piece and places like Gander have their fishing sales right now where they might be even less.

Posts: 2027 | I ran a Supernatural on a 2 piece H TDR on 1 rod, a Headlock and a spinner with 10s on planer boards and there was plenty of flex left to handle the strike. Make sure your drag is set right.

Pretty sure if memory serves me correct that they are two piece in the middle, unless they changed them. I am using two Okuma EVX Musky 8' one piece trolling rods and have no complaints, also been using my TI telescopic 9' XXH to troll with.

Posts: 42 Location: Pewaukee Lake | I run Tackle Industry trolling/sucker rods and TDR's. Both are tough as nails. My biggest suggestion is to go glass and don't break the bank. Checked out Custom X's new trolling rod at the Mikwaukee show and was very impressed. Reasonably priced as well. If replacements are needed Custom X's will be on order. FYI TI isn't making the trolling rods anymore.

Posts: 152 | The Fenwick rods break apart in the middle as mentioned above. You may also want to check out the buy/sell board on here. someone just listed two st. croix glass trolling rods f/s. Ditto to what Boss said above. Very easy to see when there are weeds on your lure. Any decent trolling rod should though.
