Looking for anyone that has a recon. I am in the market for a new boat but I dont know anyone that has one or has been in one. Looking for honest feedback only, dont want to make a big mistake.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback

Doesn't work that way here. Unfortunately, folks can and will post mean spirited things about a product because they own something else. We do not, as a result, allow 'pros and cons' because that leads to a train wreck every time.

Better phrased:
Anyone own a Recon? What is your experience with the boat?

Which model are you looking for? A guide friend of mine has a 785 SC and loves it. He had a yarcraft before his 785. I looked at them, while I like the center rod locker, the 85 inch beam and no tiller option made it a no go for me.

I like the layout of them. The front rod locker looks great. I like the back deck too - similar to a Ranger Fisherman series.

I'm also a tiller guy so currently they are a no go for me, BUT... I emailed the owner asking if they had plans to build a tiller. He said he was considering building one this year. If you are interested in a tiller give them some feedback and maybe they'll start building them.

The owner got back to me within just a few minutes, which I thought was impressive.

I checked them out before I bought my Pro Guide. They look really nice, but no center rod locker, and no way for me to trade in my old boat since they don't have a dealer network.

Those Larson Tillers look pretty nice as well.

I think the recons look like great boats. Long rod locker. Nice price too. I would consider one if I was in the market.

Wow, that's a heck of a deal for a 17' fiberglass with a 150. As much as I want to stay in a tiller boat that would be tempting.

I just don't like the narrow beam. It is barely wider than my Predator was. With a 150 that thing would be a rocket though I bet.

I have a 2013 985 DC witha 200 etceh H/O. Love the boat and would recommend it to anyone. Looked at the 619 ranger but went with the RECON. This boat will do 60
mph and is a dry ride. Boat has a 99 " beam real wide and stable!!! Total Fishing Machine!!!!! Feel free to ask me any questions about the boat.

I am also in the market for a new rig and had the opportunity to see the Recons a couple of weeks ago at my local boat show. They look like really nice boats for the money. A lot of nice features. The only thing I didn't care for was the seating system. The seats seemed to be attached to permanent benches or something. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to ask to many questions as there was no one manning their booth. Certainly worth entertaining in my opinion.

tr7, seats are not and issue as the ride is smooth and comfortable. This desiign also allows for more floor space as you do not have a pole comming out of the floor. They are unique but I assure you that they are comfartable, adjustable front/back and rotate. For the money I think you are hard pressed to get a boat of this quality with all the features at this price. When in the market last year I was down to purchasing a Ranger 619 or RECON 985. I chose the RECON not just for the value but felt it was a better fishing platform with quality that rivals the 619.

Robw615, I have a '12 985sc with 200 ho. It is a great musky platform and I have been very happy with the boat. Great ride, stable platform, fast out of the hole, fast on the top end. The best thing about the boat is the guys behind making the boat. John (owner of Recon in Iola) has worked on my boat a few times (personal modifications) for me and have nothing but great things to say there. Very responsive and knows how to make a great boat. Very happy with the boat and good luck on your search.
