Looking to expand my spinner bait inventory. Looking for opinions on a few different aspects.

Best weedless spinner options?

Hardest thumping spinner options?

Heaviest spinner options?

I really like how hard the single 10s thump, I am not apposed to larger blades either. Or even home made customs. Just looking to add a few different ones this off season to increase some of my options while on the water. Any and all opinions are appreciated.

Thanks

My best advice is talk to Archie (psv). He builds some really great stuff. Super strong, and built to last. If you contact him, he will work with you, and build you what you want for the presentation you are looking for. He built me a couple grinders late last summer. I took them to the local lake which is SOLID milfoil, cast as far as I could, and it came through without a single hang up or weed on the bait.

I know what I hate and I don't hate Archie's baits.
Pink lemonade looks like a hooker.

I do, 5, 6,and 8oz, if your lookin for something heavy. Single hook or leverage free treble.  .062 wire, sodered eye, ball bearing swivel. These are awesome for speed trolling, or casting a steep break.

Psv,

Will you be at the Milwaukee expo? Or will anyone there have your baits on display?

PJV

No. I'll not be at the Milwaukee and no one will have my spinnerbaits on display. Too small to have a booth yet. I don't make them by hundreds or thousands . Just concentrate on high quality custom work.

Capt Bigfish

There is a thread (Couple new spinnerbaits)  under  Basement section with samples of my work. If you want better quality pictures shoot email to [email protected] and I'll send full size pictures

Check out Ducktail Lures Jungle Warrior--great weedless bait. Weed Warrior Tandem also a good heavy cover bait. ( I can do custom colors/blades if given some lead time).

Does anyone know if CJ's will start making spinner baits again ? Very nice spinners, just can't find them anymore. The last time I looked, Thornes did not even have them listed on their website.

Thanks.

Check out Llungen Lures. I use their nutbuster series a bunch both spring and fall. They have blade combinations that should fit your needs whatever they might be. Great colors and they hold up fantastic. I have several that have multiple fish on them and still going strong. These are a go to bait in my boat every year.

I am assuming Gerry Carroll must be bigbite on here! I have a ton of Gerry's girls and I have a handfull of the spinner baits that he put up pictures of and have boated and moved plenty of fish on them. It's nice to be able to tell him exactly what you want and have him make it better than what you ever thought.

I would just email him with some ideas and see what you can come up with! [email protected]

Gerry; That is a really Cool Bullet head!!!  Should come through weeds real well.

Here is a head I had made several years back. 1 oz., 1 1/2, and 2 oz. It has a good collar for extra tying, and skirting. It also comes through weeds well along with the old style Bullet head.

Fat-Ski,

I'm a spinner bait chuckin fool. I've tried them all. I think there are some great comments above.

Best weedless spinner options?
-I'm a huge fan of single bladed spinnerbaits for actually fishing through the weeds. Now, making contact with weeds is a much different story. The DP Grinder & LL Nutbuster is a great option for fishing through the weeds. I also like double willow bladed baits for this application. For fishing around, near, or making contact with weeds and weed lines I really like the old CJ's and Tandem & Mag Nutbusters.
Hardest thumping spinner options?
Magnum Nutbuster all day
Heaviest spinner options?
There are not too many companies out there that make supper heavy spinnerbaits. Traditionally they'll run anywhere from 1-2 oz. Any combination of Willow and Magnum blades will allow you to reach deeper depths. If you’re trying to fish a hump, submerged cover, or break lines I’d recommned counting your bait down just like you would with a bulldawg. When I engage the reel I like to give the bait a really quick snap to get the blades spinning. Also, keeping your rod tip down will help keep that bait in the target area. Muskie Train makes a MASSIVE spinner bait for trolling, but I’ve tried casting it and it will wear you out.

Chris
