Posts: 354 Location: Vilas County, WI | I'm looking for lodging for two adults in mid-August on the Flambeau Chain. I found a couple resorts listed on the internet however, the resort itself didn't have a website. I thought everywhere had websites now days! (I was interested in Thunderbird Hill, but no website). Anyhow, I'm looking for a lodge room or cabin to rent. (the cabin can be at a resort or privately held). It just needs to be on the water with a dock. I read through all the prior archived LDF Chain forums - some good information there but not much in regards to places to stay. Any suggestions? Your input is greatly appreciated. We will be fishing Flambeau Lake primarily; otherwise something on Crawling Stone, Long Interlaken, or Pokegama would work too. Thanks again!! Big Show

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | Check out all seasons resort. On little crawling stone lake. Easy access to the other lakes and docking in a protected bay. Oh yeah, they have a website too for more info. Edited by tuffy1 2/9/2014 9:14 AM

Location: Contrarian Island | yes, lower density waters but there are some tankers w the forage base in there... the Lake of the Torches use to host a tournament on it in the late 90s...not sure if it's open but if it is stop in The Flame bar in LDF and look at the big fish mounts from the chain many moons ago Edited by BNelson 2/10/2014 1:00 PM

Posts: 354 Location: Vilas County, WI | I forgot to mention we will only be there for 4 days, 3 nights... I'm finding out during peak season only weekly rentals are offered. I called All Season's, Silver Beach and Thunderbird Hill - weekly only. As BNelson mentioned, I googled The Flame Bar - it has motel rooms with docks which is awesome... However, the reviews for the restaurant are horrible. Pizza is good, but lots of complaints about the owner and service. Anyhow, I've struck out so far so still looking. There's the casino as a back-up, back-up plan but I'm not really interested in that option. Thanks Big Show

Posts: 203 Location: Germantown, WI | Dillman's on White Sand Lake is a really nice place. I stayed there last Summer with my wife and daughter. I did OK on Smallmouth and even caught a few walleyes, some panfish and a couple of Northerns. We'll probably go back there for a family vacation, but for muskies I will be trailering to other lakes. I only made a few casts for musky on White Sand so I can't really tell you much about musky fishing there. By reputation, the muskies are hard to come by on White Sand, but there are some really big ones in there. You would have to trailer your boat to the lakes you mentioned: Flambeau, Crawling Stone, Long Interlaken, or Pokegama.
